reflection

This school year came and gone like a blink of an eye. This school year I made so friends and very little enemies. Everyone told me that high school was hard at the beginning, and they were wrong it was pretty easy. However there have been a few changes in my life. When I look back I used to be outgoing, loud, social able, and didn’t loose touch with friends that I knew for a while. For example I went downtown and to south Philadelphia everyday just to hangout with my friends. But now since I got to parkway I became less sociable, kind of less outgoing, sheltered and didn’t want to hangout with my friends Isaiah, Nia, Michelle, and Nyree. For instance I no longer barely want to go out to south Philadelphia. Furthermore I think the change hasn’t been good since I do miss all of my old friends from my past middle school. I think during this school year it has put a strain on all of my friendships with them since I started becoming a close circle friend person. I believe high school wasn’t a challenge but it was more of a challenge keeping up with friends that go to other schools.  The person I am now is a more cautious about who I talk to and who not to trust in this life. My relection now is some people from my first year of high school help make me into the person i am today. i think they kind of changed me for the better since i used to be a person who was all about drama and getting in trouble with the in crowd but now i surround myself with somewhat positive mined
people who know when im upset or supper happy. i believe this first year of high school has been a roller coster for me and made me realize im less social with old friends and I gained 2 new ones who are keeping me grounded enough to see the good things in life as a better person and better friend and whats good about parkway west.

Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Santigold to headline Jay-Z’s Made in America fest in Philly

today on may 24th 2012, in class i was reading an article about rapper jay-z is going to have a big concert on september first and second . with many star studded music artist to perform and headline for the "Made In America"  festival in philadelphia. http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/music/20120522_Pearl_Jam__Skrillex__Santigold_to_headline_Jay-Z_rsquo_s_Made_in_America_fest_in_Philly.html ,   according to the article pearl jam will headline the made in america concert , along side rapper jay-z. music performs is skrillex who happens to be the face of dubstep. Maybach Music Group , which is the hip-hop alliance taking over in music world features phily native Meek Mill, Washington very own Wale,  and the Miami boss Rick Ross. furthermore the list of performers goes on from  1990's r&b singer D'angelo, to indie-rock band Dirty Projector, pop artist janelle MonĂ¡e and Santigold,  and maybe rapper drake , and philly's own the Roots lastly contentious music group odd future will be performing also.urthermore in the article jay-z said in an interview “in The Inquirer in an interview last week that “Made in America” would be wide-ranging and “very diverse” musically.” Meaning that many artist from all genres of music will be able to bring philadelphia a one of a kind night full of music. the festival will be at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Labor Day. this will be one of the biggest events in philadelphia.  according to the article the event till attract about 50,00 people by the end of the week more performances will be announced later on.. the two day made in america event tickets go on sale for about $99 and for vip is about $655.

I think the event will bring a lot of diversity of people to Philadelphia. This bring everyone together in the way , even though  it will be different genres their. this summer will be one of the best summers personally since mostly all of the artist i listen to are going to be here on a two day festivial.

getting angry can be a good thing

Today in journalism class on May 14, 2012 we read this example of “I Believe” this essay is named getting angry can be a good thing. It was mainly about a woman named Cecillia Munoz writing about a time she remembers when a family friend  told her that if they united states goes to war in latin America , and told her that her parents belong in an internment camp just like the Japanese-americans during world war II. Which sparked her to be angry at the situation which inspired her to work  as an advocate . she helped 5o immigrant families in a day, the faces of the five who didn’t qualify haunted her dreams at night. Knowing that she couldn’t help everyone still made her angry and try to strive to help everyone. Furthermore she said “ you have victories but your defeats outnumber them by far, and you remember the names and faces of those who lost. This means that even though she may have many victories and reunite American families with their immigrant family , there are still some challeges and battles she cannot win. Also she stated “ I deeply familiar with that hollow place that outrage carves in your soul; I’ve fed off of it to sustain my work for may years. This means that knowing those circumstances she feds off it and becomes angry which inspires her to do the right thing and try to help bring families together even if her part of helping is small. She still tries to do the right thing.
I personally disagree with her belif of being angry all the time could actually help bring something positive. Since mostly when im angry , my intensions and actions are very negative not positive when someone makes me angry. Not many can think or do something positive once someone tells them oh you can do nothing your just a kid or even say your this or that when someone  judges you it makes you angry and do something destructive.

broadcast a world of whiteness

today on may 8th, 2012 i read an article about how televison may not be diverse with other than white americans. The article was written by Jon Caramanica. according to the article " whitenes is too often invisible on television , so much the so that this fact is hardly pointed out. Also “ television is nowhere near diverse enough- not in its actors , its writers or its show runners. big  tv networks such as Fox , ABC, NBC, and CBS do not have many shows that have a diverse cast is because some white americans out in the world don’t want to see that. Those big tv networks producers believe in just what is going to catch most of the public eye if they have celebrities and an young cast or unique group of actors it attracts a lot of mostly white americans. For instance “Fox” has “Glee”, which has some diverse but the cast members have small parts in each episode. NBC has “30 rock” and “ Community”. Both of these networks share something in common they both offer prime time tv shows that are popular due to the lack of diverse cast and the fact that each tv network main goal is to make sure that each tv show is earning the network a lot of money. The television producers have a lot of responsibility  to put on shows that have diverse cast , but some are too afraid the network would lose some viwers due to the cast. So the producers give into what I stated before is they give into what the public eye wants.
I have watched the animated cartoon named “ American Dad” the episode was based on black history and they make racial slurs all the time in each episode. I honestly don’t respect the show and it’s a disgrace to everyone.  The tv show is shown on fox and the entire cast is white.

gun fashion

today may,1,2012 my journalism teacher told us in the near future clothing lines are considering making clothes to fit guns. the trend its self doesnt sound like it would end good since now todays youth are doing more dangerous things than back in the day. in some states its legal for people to carry guns. but it could cause problems since many already carry fire arms without a permit or legal papers to carry and cause many problems. the idea of more people carrying and clothing lines are creating gun fashion just doesnt seem like it would end well since more guns on street or on people would just add up to more violence. i dont think americans shouldnt be allowed to carry guns since many use them to kill for personal reasons just because of beef's or even just because of family members having problems with that person. i think gun laws are too permissive in many ways on the youth and elders in america. the laws arent to restrictive since if they were trayvon martin wouldnt have died and george zimmerman wouldnt had've a fire arm since he was a past offender of violence against the law. if more people carried guns there would be more crime rising than in the last 20 years. criminals wouldnt be scared they would just be more cautious and plan out more ways to get what they want. not all criminals arent all simple minded. gun fashion would just encourage the youth to disobey more laws and own fire arms and use them on other americans they dont like or even just play with them causing danger to themseleves and others.
