I think it’s completely wrong for companies to judge you from what you looked up or even posted on social media sites such as Facebook, twitter, tumbler, blogger and others. These companies are demeaning people and making it harder for some people who are less likely to have a high credit limit. With companies picking and choosing to go through a person’s pass history such as cookies without letting the person know its violating free of speech. I think now im more concerned of what I post online because now I know it could come back and be used against me in the end.

Facebook is using you
Today in class we read an article called “Facebook is using you” by Lori Andrews. The article was about how people of all ages use social media sites such as Facebook, twitter, blogger, tumbler, and more social sites, some of things you post can be used against you in the future. The author of this article wants a law to be passed, just like Europe saying it’s illegal to track a person and judge them from their history online, and make them less creditable for jobs, and less their credit limit. Each of these sites all have something in common, they all consist of personal data yours and mine. The article gets more into detail about all these sites are making money. In the article it states “ads that pop up on your screen might seem useful, or at worst, a nuisance. But they are much more than that. The bits and bytes about your life can easily be used against you. Whether you can obtain a job, credit, or insurance can be based on your online profile- and you may never know why you`ve been turned down”. Furthermore the article states “ your application for credit could be declined not on the basis of your own finances or credit history , but on the basis of your online data- what other people whose likes and dislikes are similar to yours have done. When divorcing couples are more likely to not pay their credit-card bills, then the fact that you`ve looked at ads or sent an e-mail to a divorce lawyer might cause a bank to classify you as less credit-worthy. Also in the article it states that there are laws in Europe about it being illegal for companies to look you up from your online data and judge your character from your “cookies”.

today febuary 21st 2012, on cnn news website in the health section i read an article about women are more likely to die in an hospital after a heart attack. the article is named woman are more like to die in the hostipital after a heartattack , study finds. the article study showed that " nearly every 34 seconds in the united states as a heart attack , according to the american heart association. the article went on to state that heart diseasese is the number one killer for men and women in the united states. furthermore, in the article the study it showed that women are more likely than men to show up at hospital without classic chest pains sypmtoms that are very know for heart attacks. " researches used data from more than 1 million paitients in the national regsitry of myocardial infraction. in a large nation database of heart attack patients from about 1,600 acute care hospitals in the U.S. woman were comprised 42 percent of the study. moreover " among the study particitpaints , females presenting with heart attack were slightly older than males , averaging 74 years old compared to an 67 years old for men. according to the study women were less likely to have chest pains and discomfort. while 42 percent of women compared to only 30.7 of men without chest pains. however age also plays a factor for sympotoms in hositpal deaths for females were 14.6 percent while compared to males 10.3 percent. the article concludes that more research may need to be done to fully indicate specially what causes the sympotomes between the age groups and sexes.
i think after reading the article i some what understand where its thought that males are more likely to have heartattacks. however i think that some of its research is a bit of is a bit off since , more males do undur more stress than females. genticially speaking sometimes someone who has chest pains, genetics offten pass from previous elder family members to that person . so what that being said from actually witnessing and from family history , I kind of agree with the article but not fulley. With my family history mostly the females are the ones to have an heart attack , and or chest pains. Which conclude in death in hospitals. honestly
it depends on the family history and genetics.

In class on Tuesday on February 14, in 2012 we read an article named “I’m a criminal and so are you. The article is mostly about being a criminal since mostly everyone committed crimes but were never caught yet while others were caught for their crimes and once were released from prison they are treated unfairly and aren’t allowed in some states to vote, get a job, or even get a house. For example from the article it states “in this country, we force millions of people- who are largely black and brown- into a permanent second class status, simply because they once committed a crime. Once labeled a felon, you are ushered into a parrel social universe. You be denied the right to vote, automatically, excluded from juries and legally discriminated against in employment, housing, and access to education and public benefits - forms of discrimination that we supposedly left behind. The article also went on to state that the author of the article Michelle Alexander “I doubt Barack Obama thinks of himself as a criminal, though he should. He has admitted to using illegal drugs during his college year’s lots in fact. What if he thought of himself as a criminal? What if he identified that way? Would it lead him to feel a bit more compassion for those who are branded drug felons for life, unable to find work or housing, and deemed ineligible even for food stamps”
I think that some criminals that are branded for the crimes they do and will never really get past that for some people in the world. I personally know some people that have in and out of jail and it’s hard for them now since they have to try to restart their lives and live their lives like everyone else when the law permits them from getting a second chance at outside life. It’s very sad that people think once a criminal always a criminal. Furthermore I think everyone really is a criminal since everyone has committed petty crimes that weren’t caught by the law

Photoshop or Not? A Tool to Tell
today in class i read an article about pictures of famous celerbrities and people being heavliy photoshoped in popular fashion magazines and advertisements. in the article it states that the retouching can be slight - colors brightened , a stray hair put in place , a pimple healed. or it can be drastic - shedding 10 to 20 pounds off , increasing a few inches in hieght and erasing all wrinkles and blemishes , done using adobe`s photoshop software , the photo retoucher `s magic wand. furthermore the article is mostly about Dr.farid and Eric Kee , a Ph.D. student doing researching and proposing that it should offer proportions to show how much the photo has been altered. " such images , research suggests , contribute to eating to eating disorders and anxiety about body types, especially among young females". the research pin pointed Mr. Seth Matlins a former talent agent and marketing executive was said to be a big part of the self esteem act. Mr. Matlins said “ were not trying to demonize photoshop or prevent creative people from using it. But if a person`s image is drastically changed , there should be a reminder that what you`re seeing is about as true as what you saw in the Si-Fi movie “ Avatar”.
I think that seeing pictures of favorite celebrities in fashion magazines that shows them with compelet perfection and no blemishes at all is just contributing to some teens and young females feeling low about their seleves since they look at them at see everything they don’t have. Such as perfect clear skin , perfect teeth , beautifuk smile , amazing hour glass body or a very curvy body like famous female raptress “Nicki Minaj”. as I stated before seeing pictures contributes to their low self esteem making the young female feel as though shes not beautiful or good enough to do anything. Thus an eating disorder occurs which either results in death or being very ill. I think that pictures should be labled if their photoshoped because be honest . so many singers and songs were created for people to feel better about their selves and making them feel beautiful. It’s a contradiction for magazines to state what is beautiful and what is not beautiful when their publishing heavily photoshoped pictures of their models. They should lable what is photoshoped and whats not to be honest to their cusmores.

In China , Human Cost Are Built Into an Ipad
On February 1st in class we read an article about factories in china exploding killing workers and injuring some people. The factories were miss-treating workers that assemble IPhones, IPads, and other Apple products. The safety of workers weren’t important. The article went to say that more troubling, the group is some suppliers disregard for workers health. According to the article it states those two years ago, 137 workers at an apple supplier in eastern china were injured after they were ordered to use a poisonous chemical to clean iPhone screens. The article also went on to state that within seven months last year two explosions at IPad factories, including in Chengdu, killed four people and injured 77, before those blasts , apple had alerted to hazardous conditions inside the Chengdu plant, according to a Chinese group that released the warning. Furthermore apple didn’t take the full on responsibility of the safety of their overseas manufactures workers in their factories. According to the article apple isn’t the only big name companies that are doing business like that. Big companies doing business like that such as Motorola, Nokia, Sony, Toshiba and others. These big manufactures are ignoring the health and safety of their workers in their factories overseas by suppliers improperly disposed of hazardous waste and falsified records, to avoid their consumers stop being their products knowing that their device from apple was made by someone who almost nearly lost their life or someone who was injured while making my IPhone or IPad and or even IPod.
I think that some big companies that are doing business like apple factories in china are wrong for what they`re doing. While making money their also endangering the lives of their workers each day when the workers are working on making these products as fast as they can produce with the hazardous chemicals they are around every day all day. If customers knew how they got their apple or other devices made overseas I think a small percentage would even protest about this and stop buying these products but the big percentage wouldn’t even take the time out to even be bothered or even care about it.
